Conquer the Mountains

Problems.

That is one thing all of us have. Some more than others.

And all of us handle problems differently. Some people are experts in handling and solving problems. (I really hope the new CEO of Eskom, Andre de Ruyter falls in this category)

Other people’s life becomes really miserable if they have to deal with problems. I might admit I fall into this last category a bit. I am not so good ith “pressure” situations.

A man that really knew how to overcome BIG problems was Edmund Hillary.

He and Tenzing Norgay became the first people in 1953 to summit Mount Everest. They had to overcome exceptional problems to stand at the top of the world.

Notwithstanding all the new technology we have nowadays the success ratio of people conquering Everest is only 29%

So how did Sir Edmund do it? Maybe this quote of his gives us an insight into the man. He said:

“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves”

We must not focus on the problem and how big it is. We must focus on ourselves, our positivity and how we handle things. We must first remove our own insecurities before trying to solve a big problem.

BELIEVE in yourself.

I photographed this scene in my favourite place on earth.

The Karoo.

Somewhere between George and Oudtshoorn in South Africa. We were just returning from a very nice holiday at my brother’s place in Knysna. The year was 2013. I have just turned 50 in that week.

And how the rest of my life is going to be will depend on how I will climb and conquer the mountains in my way!

This photo can be ordered as a fine art print. Here are my options and prices.

PS. This was the first fine art print I have ever sold. To a good friend. Danie Bouwer!

Here is my first ever fine art print that I have sold coming out of the printer
